Private Pottery Classes
As someone who came to pottery relatively recently, I don’t offer advanced classes. I do, however, offer a wide variety of opportunities for beginners to work with clay, including classes for individuals and small groups in my studio.
If you’re an intermediate or advanced student, feel free to contact me for instructor recommendations!
I also offer private classes for embroidery and weaving! As there’s such a wide variety of design options and skill levels available, please use the form on the Contact page (linked below) to inquire about any textile classes.
Beginner Wheel-Throwing
$60 for a 2.5-hr class, one student
or $100 for a 3-hr class, two students
Learn the basics of wheel-thrown pottery. Students can usually make 2-4 pieces during this class. The price for the class includes the cost of all materials, including clay, bisque firing, glazing, and glaze firing your pieces (usually a 2-3 week turnaround for finished pieces). You can pick out the glaze for your piece or schedule an additional session for $10 to come glaze them yourself.
4-Week Wheel-Throwing
$50 per class ($200 total), one student, 2 hrs
For those who have tried the beginner wheel-throwing class and want to keep learning techniques and experimenting with guidance, this is the class for you! The first three classes will be making and trimming pottery on the wheel. The final class will be finishing your works, including any final trimming and attaching handles.
Pinch Pot Class
$40 per student, one to four students, 2 hrs
Pinch pots are a very basic but extremely versatile way to make pottery! You can learn to make a bowl, mug, soap dish, platter, and more — your choice! The end result is an organic shape with a beautiful texture that is completely one-of-a-kind. This class is great to do with a friend or as a small group.
All pieces will be bisque fired, glazed, and glaze fired. The final result will be food-, dishwasher-, and oven-safe. You can pick out the finishing glaze for your piece from our glaze collection or schedule an additional session for $10 per person to come glaze them yourself.
Please Note: Pottery is a messy but extremely gratifying craft! For classes, be sure to wear clothes and you don’t mind getting clay or glazes on. Even when we’re being careful and wearing aprons, it’s easy to get your clothes dirty!
Allergen Warning: The studio space is currently located in my home, which is also home to dogs and cats. Even with thorough cleaning, allergens might remain that would make my studio unsuitable for everyone. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns prior to booking a class.
